Mason swim standout Volpenhein commits to Stanford

Mason High School senior Ashley Volpenhein will continue her swimming career at Stanford.

Volpenhein gave her verbal commitment Monday night via Twitter.

So excited to announce my commitment to swim at Stanford! I can't wait to be a part of such amazing athletics and academics! Go card!!❤️

A six-time individual state champion, Volpenhein is the state-record holder in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events. She was the co-swimmer of the year in Ohio last season.

Volpenhein qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in both of those events this summer.
