Lakota West softball ranked in top 25 in national poll

The Lakota West softball team entered the USA Today Sports/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Super 25 poll on Thursday.

At No. 18, Lakota West (18-1) is the second-highest ranked team from Ohio behind Keystone (21-1), which is No. 16.

Lakota West improved to 12-0 in the Greater Miami Conference with a 14-0 victory Wednesday against Middletown. It has won five straight games since losing 5-1 to Indianapolis Roncalli on April 17. Roncalli (14-0) ranks 15th in the national poll.

In the Ohio High School Softball Coaches Association poll, Lakota West ranks first in Division I. Keystone ranks first in Division II.

KK Mathis leads Lakota West with 34 RBIs and 11 home runs and is 11-1 on the mound with a 1.44 ERA and 106 strikeouts in 73 innings. Molly Grace leads the team with 31 runs scored. Belle Hummel has 25 stolen bases.
