Houston basketball coach asks for teams to send T-shirts, shoes

University of Houston men’s basketball coach Kelvin Sampson reached out to the entire college basketball coaching community Monday on Twitter, seeking aid for those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Sampson asked coaches from all levels to mail 20 T-shirts and 10 pairs of shoes to him in Houston. As of Tuesday, his post had been shared almost 5,000 times.

Local teams were among those to respond. Wright State’s men’s basketball team will donate 24 T-shirts from its summercamp, and the rest of the athletic department is also gathering items to contribute, said Nate Goff, the men’s basketball team’s director of operations.

Here’s a quick glance at other coaches and teams who responded to Sampson’s Tweet.
