High School Football: Second-half rally leads East past Middletown

Tavier Lugo-Flowers scored a pair of second-half touchdowns to lead Lakota East to a come-from-behind 21-9 win over visiting Middletown on Friday night at the ‘Hawks Nest.

Lugo-Flowers scored on a pair of 4-yard runs as the Thunderhawks (3-1, 2-0 Greater Miami Conference) rallied from a 9-7 deficit.

Mason Dearth booted three field goals for the Middies (1-3, 0-2).

Dearth’s 28-yard FG at the 9:18 mark of the third quarter gave Middletown a 9-7 lead. He also kicked 19 and 42 yard field goals.

The first of Lugo-Flowers’ scores came at 6:04 of the third. His second TD iced the game with 7:16 to play.

Charlie Kenrich caught a 32-yard TD pass from TJ Kathman in the first quarter for East.

East grinded out 248 yards on the ground. Josh Thornhill led the way with 90 yards on 10 carries, Lugo-Flowers added 76 yards and Kenrich 60.

Josh Bryant rushed for 108 yards on 30 carries for the Middies.

Lakota East hosts Princeton next Friday night, while Middletown hosts Colerain.
