College Insider: Hamilton’s Morrison still getting his kicks at Gannon

Jarod Morrison is among the top punters in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference as a senior for the Gannon University football team in Erie, Pa.

The Hamilton High School graduate ranks fourth in the PSAC with his 41.1-yard average on 52 punts. He’s got 10 kicks of 50-plus yards — that total leads the conference — and has placed punts inside the 20-yard line 13 times.

Senior Brady Bowling (Lakota West) is a starting offensive tackle for the Golden Knights, who are 2-7 overall and 2-4 in the PSAC. They will travel to Slippery Rock (Pa.) on Saturday at 1 p.m.

• Redshirt sophomore tight end Zach Larkin (Badin) caught his first career touchdown pass last Saturday in Indiana State’s 43-17 road win over Youngstown State.

Redshirt junior Ryan Boyle connected with Larkin for a 15-yard TD in the fourth quarter as the Sycamores improved to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in the Missouri Valley Football Conference.

Larkin, a former quarterback, has three catches for 33 yards. Redshirt junior Dante Jones (Lakota West) has caught nine balls for 146 yards.

ISU will host South Dakota on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Women's soccer: Freshman midfielder Christa Harris (Carlisle) and senior midfielder Alison Cook (Lakota East) are the leading scorers for Shawnee State. Both have five goals and one assist.

Sophomore midfielder Madison Patrick (Carlisle) has one goal for the Bears, who are 5-10-1 overall and 2-5 in the Mid-South Conference.

Shawnee State will begin MSC tournament play against Cumberland (Tenn.) on Thursday in Bowling Green, Ky.

Volleyball: Sophomore defensive specialist/libero Megan Kaufman (Lakota West) leads Chattanooga in digs with 286 and ranks third in assists with 55.

Kaufman also has 13 service aces for the Mocs, who are 8-17 overall and 4-8 in the Southern Conference. They will visit Mercer (Ga.) on Friday at 6 p.m.

Men's soccer: Senior forward Ethan Jeffers (Monroe) has two goals and three assists for Asbury (Ky.), which is 9-7-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the River States Conference.

The Eagles will host Lincoln (Ill.) on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
