Since we can’t be bothered to learn the real words for things anymore, Merriam-Webster has made a regular habit out of adding new ones to the dictionary to make things easier.
The latest crop is out, and it includes a few from the world of sports… not to mention some others we will probably use quite a bit in the near future.
Airball, up-fake and five-hole are now all officially words according to the folks at M-W.

Also indispensable in these increasingly sarcastic times for sports are these collections of letters that have received the official M-W blessing: humblebrag, side-eye, weak sauce, throw shade and face-palm.
