Brennaman receives special gift from Cubs after last road game as Reds broadcaster

The voice of the Reds will call six more home games before he retires

Marty Brennaman broadcast his final Cincinnati Reds road game Wednesday at Wrigley Field in Chicago.

Brennaman, who announced in January he would retire after the season, has six more home games at Great American Ball Park. His final game will be Sept. 26 when the Reds play host to the Milwaukee Brewers in their final home game.  After that game, the Reds will invite fans onto the field for a special program honoring Brennaman.

The Chicago Cubs honored Brennaman by presenting him with a scoreboard panel with the No. 46, signifying how many years he has worked as the play-by-play man for the Reds. Chicago police also provided an escort for the Reds team bus on the way to the airport Wednesday night in honor of Brennaman’s last flight with the team.

The Reds beat the Cubs 3-2 in extra innings and start a three-game series against the New York Mets on Friday at Great American Ball Park.
