Afterward: Autograph session.
The Cincinnati Bengals are coming to West Carrollton High School.
The Bengals announced on Wednesday the team will hold a preseason practice at West Carrollton on Sunday, Aug. 21. The session is scheduled to start at 3:50 p.m. and will go until about 5:20 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public. Players will be available for an autograph session after the practice.
Before practice Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis and a few players will huddle with the Pirates’ football coaching staff and players.
“Football season is fast approaching and we are working hard to get the team ready for our first game,” said Lewis in a release. “West Carrollton was a great host in 2014 and we look forward to returning to the area and practicing in front of a large crowd.”
The Bengals also held a preseason practice at West Carrollton in 2014. The defending AFC North champions also previously have held preseason practices at Centerville and Springboro high schools and Dayton’s Stadium.
“We are really excited about hosting the Cincinnati Bengals practice,” said Rusty Clifford, superintendent of the West Carrollton School District, in a release. “Their entire organization is first class - players, coaches, administrative support and owner. The afternoon is a tremendous fan friendly experience for everyone.”
West Carrollton’s All Sports Stadium has a seating capacity of about 5,000, with additional standing room around an adjoining track. Concessions and Bengals merchandise will be available for purchase.
“Dayton has always been very important to the Bengals because of the strong fan base in the area,” said Bengals Executive Vice President Katie Blackburn in a release. “To build on that great connection, we’re excited to bring our players closer to the Dayton-area fans and offer a more intimate way for these fans to see the team practice and get autographs from their favorite players.”
