The university will celebrate the opening of the new building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday.
Wright State president Cherul Schrader will preside over the ceremony, as will several more top university officials and government and community leaders.
The 8,190-square-foot facility includes a 680-square-foot portico and is located just east of Dwyer Hall on Wright State’s Lake Campus. The building will provide both classroom and laboratory space for research, according to WSU.
The new center cost $3 million to construct with $1.5 million coming from state funds obtained by State Rep. Keith Faber, according to Wright State. The other $1.5 million was raised by the university.
Wright State’s Lake Campus is growing despite both enrollment and financial setbacks at the school’s main campus in Fairborn. In December, Schrader said called the Lake Campus a “gem” and said that Wright State’s main campus should look to its branch location for ideas and innovation.
