Butler County Coroner IDs motorcyclist killed in fatal crash

A Hamilton man died from multiple traumatic injuries in a two-vehicle crash involving his motorcycle on Sunday afternoon, according to the Butler County Coroner's Office.

Michael J. Botkins, 64, was traveling south on South Gilmore Road on a 1997 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when the driver of a 2017 Toyota Highlander was turning left onto Resor Road after traveling north on South Gilmore Road, according to Fairfield police. The two vehicles collided.

Botkins received CPR before being transported to the Mercy Health-Fairfield Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

The driver of the SUV was taken by family members to Mercy Health on Mack Road for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

The crash is still under investigation.
