Top judges for 12th District appeals court announced

The 12th District Court of Appeals elected Judge Robert Ringland as its presiding judge for 2014 and Judge Robert Hendrickson as the court’s administrative judge.

The Twelfth District Court of Appeals is located at 1001 Reinartz Blvd. in Middletown and the judges reviews cases from Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Fayette, Madison, Preble and Warren counties. The court hears appeals from more than 50 trial courts.

Ringland’s duties will be to preside over all court sessions and meetings of the court en banc. Ringland, of Batavia, has served on the court since January 2009, had served on the Clermont County Court of Common Pleas for 26 years and is the past president of the Ohio Common Pleas Judges Association.

Ringland currently serves as a member of the Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline of the Supreme Court of Ohio.

Hendrickson’s duties includes supervising the administration, docket and calendar of the court. He will also serve as presiding judge in Ringland’s absence.

Hendrickson, of Monroe, was elected to the Court of Appeals in 2008. Before that he was the judge in Butler County’s Area III Court. He also served as a Monroe city councilman, a magistrate for the Hamilton Municipal Court, and as acting prosecutor for both Hamilton and Middletown municipal courts.

The other judges on the 12th District Court of Appeals are Judge Stephen W. Powell of West Chester Twp., Judge Robin Piper of Oxford, and Judge Michael E. Powell of Lebanon.
