Starbucks expanding delivery pilot with Uber Eats

Starbucks is expanding its most recent delivery pilot to six major cities, and others are expected to follow.

The coffee giant with more than 29,000 stores internationally will now deliver through Uber Eats in San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Washington D.C. The pilot program began in Miami in the fall of last year, according to a company statement.

There are also delivery initiatives in China, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Mexico and Chile as Starbucks tries to gain its share of the $95 billion online food delivery market. The pilots will continue to expand throughout 2019, according to the release.

“We know we have untapped customer demand for Starbucks Delivers in the U.S. and starting today, we’re expanding our best-in-class experience to our customers both in and out of our stores,” said Roz Brewer, group president and CEO of Starbucks.
