Newsome has 23 years of high school coaching experience, 17 years of which he has served as a head coach.
Last week, Athletic Director John Augustine announced the hiring of former Bethel and Beavercreek coach Scott Clodfelter as Carlisle’s new high school varsity football coach. Both Clodfelter and Newsome will earn $6,459 for their supplemental coaching contracts as they both hold full-time jobs outside of the district.
“Super excited for the opportunity to coach the players and staff have here at Carlisle,” Newsome said.
Newsome takes over the Carlisle program, which has been led by Donnie Ridinger for the past four years.
For the past four years, Newsome led a very successful program at Legacy Christian/Xenia Christian. His 2018 team finished 18-7 and midway through the season was ranked ninth in the Associated Press State basketball poll. This past season, his team finished 19-3 including a 16 game win streak. Newsome was also named the 2019 Dayton Daily News All Area Division 4 Coach of the Year, and the District 15 Coach of the Year in 2017, 2018, and 2019.
Prior to Legacy Christian, Newsome was the head coach at Yellow Springs High School. While at Yellow Springs, he was selected as the MBC Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2008, the District 15 Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2004, and won four MBC Conference Championships. In 2010, Newsome was presented the OHSAA Award for Outstanding Achievement for a Basketball Coach (182 wins). Newsome is the all-time winningest coach in Yellow Springs history.
“I look forward to the dedication and experience that Brad brings to Carlisle, ” Augustine said.
