Rick Santorum to speak at Butler County GOP’s Lincoln Day dinner

The featured speaker for the Butler County Republican Party’s Lincoln Day dinner next month will be former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum.

Santorum, who spoke in Butler County last March at the "Religious Liberty" rally in West Chester Twp., will be speaking on behalf of Republican presidential candidate U.S. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., who he supported after he dropped from the race in early February. He was a 2012 and 2016 presidential candidate.

The March 12 dinner will also feature a celebration of two GOP stalwarts: the late Carlos Todd, who transformed the county Republican Party in the 1990s and early 2000s, and his one-time Union Twp. trustee colleague, John Boehner, the former U.S. Speaker of the House who resigned from Congress this past October.

The Lincoln Day dinner is also the first public appearance the West Chester Twp. Republican has made in the 8th Congressional District — a district he represented for 25 years — since his unexpected resignation.

The fundraising dinner is also three days before the Ohio presidential primary where the 8th Congressional District voters will elect a new congressman. Butler County is the largest county in the 6-county district.
