Police were called to the store Jan. 30 by a loss prevention employee who said a pharmacy employee had discovered the alleged deceit.
The employee said the woman, later identified as Stephanie Gamble, had been upset during the transaction and the employee was distracted when accepting the payment, not noticing the bill was not genuine.
Police investigated and charged Gamble with theft and criminal simulation.
