Police: Poison-laced knife used to stab brother-in-law

A 43-year-old Hamilton man was indicted today on charges of attempted murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence.

Berton Glispie, of Franklin Street, allegedly coated a knife with rat poison and stabbed his brother-in-law in the stomach, hands and face on Aug. 29. Glispie then took the knife and latex gloves he wore during the assault and dumped them along the railroad tracks near the post office on Franklin Street, according to police.

The knife and gloves were located along the tracks by a police officer.

Glispie initially told police the knife was laced with the poison Ricin in order to get the Ricin into the victim’s blood stream, but that was later changed to rat poison.

Glispie is being held in the Butler County Jail in lieu of $150,000 bond.
