Dougherty “is currently still alive, although the prognosis is not in his favor to survive,” Hamilton police Sgt. Brian Robinson said.
Robinson added that, “the investigation is still active pending toxicology results, and nothing at this point indicates any other vehicle or person was involved with the accident. This appears to be a single vehicle accident with no outside interference with respect to causation.”
Dougherty was traveling westbound on High Street and was in the far right turn only lane, but went straight through the intersection, according to police reports.
He hit the curb and lost control of his motorcycle, which skidded about 250 feet, and police believe speed was a factor in the crash.
“He then went somewhere between 100 and 150 feet after he was separated from the motorcycle,” Robinson said, adding that Dougherty was not wearing a helmet.
