Police: Burglary suspects shot at apartment residents who followed them

Two residents of an apartment in the 900 block of North University Boulevard said their vehicle was shot several times by people who allegedly stole from their apartment several weeks ago.

They told Middletown police when they came home at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, they noticed a car in the parking lot and two people were inside the car. They told people the people were suspects of a recent burglary, according to a police report.

When they followed the car out of the parking lot to the area of University and Breiel boulevards, the driver of the vehicle displayed a black and silver hand gun. They sped up, but the driver fired several rounds, striking the vehicle, they told police.

Police said the white 2005 Nissan suffered damage “consistent with bullet strikes,” the report read. There was damage in the driver’s side rear door and the driver’s side of the hood.

Police were unable to locate the suspects, according to the report.
