38 people indicted in Butler and Warren counties

Grand juries, which meet in secret, review criminal charges brought by police and prosecutors and investigate possible criminal behavior. The proceedings are usually one-sided, because the accused is not present and witnesses are not cross-examined.

A grand jury may issue an indictment if it finds probable cause that a crime was committed and the accused person is responsible. An indictment is an accusation that must then be proven in court. The grand jury may also elect to issue no indictment.

John M. Booker, 1414 Yankee Road, Middletown; indicted on one count each of possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, and possession of marijuana.

Willie Edward Hunter Jr., address unknown; certified back to the lower court on one count of possession of marijuana.

Willie Edward Hunter Jr., 1020 Kunz Ave., Middletown; indicted on one count of domestic violence.

James England Taylor, 503 Highland Place, Hamilton; indicted on one count each of having weapons while under disability, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, driving under suspension, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.

Timothy Scott Dome Jr., 2870 W. Elkton Road, Hamilton; indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs.

John Richard Chalfant, 1507 Forrest Ave., Middletown; indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs.

Perry Michael Handschuh, 1325 Pershing Ave., Middletown; indicted on one count of aggravated possession of drugs.

Guillarmo Cortes-Valenzuela, 6 Delta Drive, Hamilton; indicted on one count each of trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in cocaine (direct), and possession of cocaine.

Tyler R. Brown, 5252 College Corner Pike One #B, Oxford; indicted on one count each of burglary and petty theft.

Ismail Abdul Salaam, 5705 Belmont Ave., Cincinnati; indicted on one count of assault.

Michael Robert McClain, 2304 Central Ave., Middletown; indicted on one count each of aggravated burglary, felonious assault, and public indecency.

Dexter Gregory II, 2040 Winona Drive, Middletown; indicted on one count each of aggravated possession of drugs, illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.

Petronilo Castillo-Bonilla, 3105 Clintwood Way, Pigeon Forge, Tn.; indicted on one count each of possession of cocaine, operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, and improper turn.
