No more junk food

I am calling about people on welfare. I am all for welfare when people can't afford to feed their kids but, when I'm at the store, I see people using their food stamp card to buy nothing but candy, gum, pop and chips — just a bunch of junk food. I think that should be illegal. I don't think you should be allowed to buy that stuff on your food stamp card. It should be milk, bread, eggs and meat — the necessities. Not candy, pop and whatever else they're buying. That's ridiculous.

I agree with the Community Voice caller who called in about the person in the grocery store line who paid for a whole basket full of food with a welfare card. Those of us who work for a living and have never received any benefits from the government ... feel that if (Barack) Obama's health care package goes through, we might as well give up and go on welfare. We'll eat more. Right now, we probably only eat two or three days a week, compared to the welfare people who eat like kings. Maybe it's better off that you don't work at all and live on welfare and get Section 8 housing. ...

Let me get this straight. Rush Limbaugh can't buy into the NFL because they said he made racist statements which nobody can find. They let Fergie, the foul-mouthed singer, in to buy into the Miami Dolphins. They let Michael Vick, the dog killer, back into the NFL to play. Sounds fair and balanced to me.

According to an article in the Oct. 17 (Cincinnati) Enquirer, John Boehner raised a million dollars in contributions for his fellow Republicans, but he spent $2 million in gathering up these funds. Steny Hoyer, another Republican, gave more than Boehner. He gave $1.1 million to his fellow Republicans, but he spent only $413,000 in his efforts. John certainly runs with a fast crowd and in really first-class style. The question is — why do we continue to elect this fellow?
