National magazine recognizes Butler County for this delicious point of pride

Putting the Butler County Donut Trail on the map continues to do the same for the county itself.

Food & Wine magazine is bringing the 80-mile-long trail of doughnuts and its 12 stops to the attention of its millions of readers, alerting them in a March 2 article that the county has “more doughnut shops per capita than almost anywhere else in the country.”

Formed by the Butler County Visitors Bureau in 2016 to celebrate that “unique feat,” the trail has attracted more than 9,000 people from 44 states and nine countries have completed it.

“Yes, this is a real thing that exists and it’s lovely,” said Jillian Kramer, the Food & Wine contributor who wrote the article.

The magazine details how picking up a passport is just the start of the journey, which rewards doughnut aficionados with a T-shirt once they get aforementioned passport stamped by 11 of the 12 doughnut shops.

“The T-shirt designs change each year, so if you’re apt to take the journey more than once, you could earn quite the collection,” the magazine said.
