During a third period class on Wednesday, one student texted their parent, stating another student had a handwritten note that read “I have a gun,” Springboro Schools stated in a message sent to parents Wednesday afternoon.

“In less than two minutes of receiving this call, the student in question was removed from class by Springboro High School administration,” district officials said.

The threat was later determined to be not credible after police and school staff searched the student’s locker, belongings and classroom and did not find a gun or any kind of weapon.

No injuries were reported and the school was not placed on lockdown during the investigation, district officials said.

The student accused of making the threat was taken into police custody and also will face discipline measures from the district.
