The latest special bourbon release from the Ohio Division of Liquor Control looks like a good one.

The price is not astronomical compared to some of the state’s other special releases, and 132 bottles are coming to one Dayton-area store and another 96 bottles are coming to Fairfield.

The featured bourbon will be Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel, and it will be sold starting Friday morning, June 14, at 9 a.m. at just 14 liquor-agency stores in Ohio, including Fine Wine & True Spirits at 6080 Wilmington Pike in Sugarcreek Twp. and Jungle Jim’s International Market on Dixie Highway in Fairfield. The price will be $54.99 per bottle.

Let’s let Jim Canepa, superintendent of the state’s liquor control division, tell us more:

“Last year, our Russell's Reserve barrel selection set a record for the fastest-selling release in the history of their barrel releases! We knew we had to get our hands on more for our bourbon lovers after setting that record, so just in time for Father's Day, we bring you our 2019 Russell's Reserve barrel release on June 14. We’ve partnered with master distiller Eddie Russell to select 10 barrels of Russell’s Reserve, specifically for Ohio and available only at select (stores) beginning June 14.”

“Individually bottled at 110 proof, and non-chill filtered to guarantee maximum flavor, each barrel has its own unique personality, yet still captures the signature rich, creamy toffee and vanilla flavors for which this bourbon is best known.”

Each barrel of bourbon selected as part of the Ohio release is aged nine-and-a-half years, and was chosen from two different warehouses on Wild Turkey’s historic Camp Nelson property, state officials said.

The Russell’s Reserve bourbons are produced by Wild Turkey, which was launched in 1940. Today, there are 29 warehouses that hold more than 700,000 barrels at the Kentucky distillery, producing up to 9.5 million gallons a year of Wild Turkey and Russell's Reserve.
