Police: Drunk man fired two magazines of bullets into his own car in Butler County

A man was arrested after Oxford police discovered he had fired two magazines of bullets at his own car while his blood alcohol level was more than two times the legal limit, according to a police report.

A report of shots fired in the Miami Mobile Home Park at 4:58 p.m. June 6 proved to be an intoxicated man shooting at his own vehicle.

Police responded to a 911 call by the man’s wife who said her husband had fired shots into the vehicle and said he was going to shoot himself prior to her leaving.

They had reportedly been involved in a verbal altercation at their common workplace earlier in the day and he went home but when she arrived at home, the altercation resumed at which point, he got his handgun and fired two magazines of .45 caliber ammunition into the vehicle.

He was identified as a 52-year-old man. Officers cleared the area and the responding officer was at the scene when Teager came out of his trailer. He followed orders to surrender and was placed in the cruiser.

At the police department he provided a breath sample which showed his breath-test result to be .217. He also admitted drinking throughout the afternoon.

He complained of a pain in his ribs and was taken to McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital for evaluation. He was cleared medically and taken to the Butler County Jail, where he was booked on charges of domestic violence, using weapons while intoxicated and aggravated menacing.
