The Ohio House will be in session Thursday afternoon, and one of the bills they will be voting on is to provide a tax deduction to teachers who spend their own money on school supplies for kids.
According to federal law, teachers are allowed to deduct up to $250 for money spent on school supplies as part of the taxable income on their federal taxes. Federal law allows up to $500 for married teachers who file jointly.
With this bill, teachers in Ohio may be able to deduct an additional amount on the state level.
You can watch the Ohio House vote on the bill today at 1 p.m.
