Two males -- one reportedly the suspected attacker, the other reportedly the alleged victim -- ended up in hospitals Tuesday night after a fight at the Sunset Hills Apartments in Springfield.

Police and a medic unit initially were called to the complex at Sunset Avenue and East John Street about 9:15 p.m. for man said to have been beaten with a baseball bat or golf club, Springfield Police Lt. Matt Buynak said.

That male was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center.

While he was being tended to at the hospital, the alleged suspect showed up suffering from stab wounds to his back, the lieutenant said. That second male was taken to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight.

The condition of either man is not known.

Buynak said police don't know who started the fight as witnesses so far have refused to speak with police. No arrests have been made and so the investigation continues.
