Report of knife on school bus in Franklin is unfounded, school official says

UPDATE @ 6 p.m.: A report of a student armed with a knife aboard a school bus is unfounded, Franklin City Schools Superintendent Michael Sander said.

Sander said according to police, a student told the bus driver another student had a knife. The driver pulled over and contacted police. Police found nothing.

All the children aboard the bus were dropped off safely at their homes, Sander said.

INITIAL REPORT

A student was reportedly stopped after having a knife on a school bus this afternoon in Franklin, police said.

Officers were responding to the area of Maple and Spring streets around 3:35 p.m.

Initial reports from police indicated that the student had a knife, but that no threats were made.
