Fire broke out Sunday night in a vacant Hamilton house.

Firefighters were dispatched about 7:40 p.m. to report of fire on the second floor of 1101 Vine Street. The first floor of the building was boarded up.

According to Hamilton Fire Chief Mark Mercer, there was a report that a person was in the house, but after searching, firefighters determined it was unoccupied.

“The crews did a great job protecting the neighbor’s house from fire,” Mercer said. There were no injuries.

The fire remains under investigation.
