HAMILTON — A local physician practice has followed The Fort Hamilton Hospital to its new parent health system, but patients should see little change, according to the hospital.

Heritage Health Alliance, which consists of eight family and three internal medicine doctors, was acquired by Kettering Health Network’s physician network late last month, said Marielou Vierling, Fort Hamilton spokeswoman. Fort Hamilton became part of Dayton-based Kettering Health July 1 of last year.

“The patients will have a seamless transition as it relates to insurance or care,” Vierling said.

Like Fort Hamilton, Heritage Health was part of Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati, now UC Health. Heritage has three area offices: Heritage Primary Care-Washington Blvd., Heritage Primary Care-Ross and Heritage Internal Medicine.

The physician practice has sent letters to patients informing them of the change, according to Vierling. She said there will be no changes in insurance coverage, only that billing statements might look different because of Fort Hamilton’s electronic medical record system. Doctors will participate in most insurance plans, according to a released statement.

“By joining the Kettering Health Network, we are anticipating significant benefits for our patients and physicians,” Dr. Daniel Niehaus, president of Heritage Health, said.

Fort Hamilton has been under the leadership of a new president, Jennifer Swenson, since the end of last year. Part of Swenson’s strategy is to increase the hospital’s physician network and relationships with its employed and community physicians, Vierling said.

Alliance Physicians, Inc., Kettering Health’s physician network, has approximately 200 employed physicians across a nine-county region including Heritage Health, said Vierling.
