“We intend to build a new road on the north side of the Army Reserve Training Center that will open the interior of the park and will be a portion of a relocated Kennel Road,” Foster said. “The state has chosen to invest in us and I firmly believe this will make a tremendous difference for the city of Trenton, Butler County and will be an asset for the state.”
Foster said the first task will be to do a final engineering on the road and utility extensions and that will begin as soon as he executes the contract with the state and makes requests for bid proposals.
“More realistically, we’re looking at this project beginning in 2013,” Foster said.
“It would be nice if we could make this road extension happen at the same time as the widening of Wayne-Madison Road, but it is not a requirement.”
The final engineering for the Wayne-Madison Road widening project is being finished up now, Foster said, adding that funding for the project is already lined up.
“This will make the property more attractive to industrial developers and more competitive with other sites around the country,” Foster said.
This is the second time Trenton has applied for a Job Ready Sites grant. The first time, it was denied.
“These projects are crucial to the state’s continued growth and development,” said Christiane Schmenk, Director of the Ohio Department of Development.
“We appreciate the opportunity to work with Ohio’s communities as they prepare sites for business development.”
