2 escape fire at Liberty Twp. home

UPDATE @ 12:38 p.m.: Liberty Twp. Fire Chief Paul Stumpf said two occupants got out of the home while fire crews were on their way to the scene this morning just before 11 a.m.

The two occupants called 911 as did neighbors. They then went to the backyard and got dogs off of the property, according to crews at the scene.

Crews reported heavy black smoke from the home in the 6800 block of Willer Way, Stumpf said.

The majority of the flames were coming from an enclosed porch in the back of the home, according to Stumpf, and were beginning to spread into the home and up onto its roof.

Duke Energy was called to shut off utilities and mutual aid was requested from West Chester Fire Department, he said.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. Damage is estimated at $50,000 to $100,000, according to Stumpf.
