Strong winds, showers arrive for the weekend: What you need to know

Overnight: It will be partly to mostly cloudy and seasonable overnight with temperatures in the mid-40s, Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Dontae Jones said.

Thursday: A very warm day is expected as temperatures soar in the mid-70s with filtered sunshine and high clouds thickening through the day. Winds will gust between 30 and 40 mph for the afternoon. Overnight, a line of showers and possibly storms are expected to move east along and ahead of a cold front.

Friday: Active weather with a line of downpours will move through the morning commute. Gusty winds could reach 40 mph. Although the threat for a severe thunderstorm is low, it'll be wet and windy. The cold front will push rain east pretty quickly after lunch. Strong winds continue into the afternoon, possibly gusting between 40 to 50 mph during the day as cooler air arrives. Temperatures will likely hit the 60s early and continue to fall.

Saturday: Expect it to be warmer for the weekend as highs are closer to normal around 60 degrees. There'll be broken clouds as another system brings rain back headed into the overnight hours.

Sunday: Scattered rain showers are expected through the day to end the weekend. It'll be cloudy with highs in the upper 50s near 60 degrees. Expect it to be breezy at times.
