FAIRFIELD TWP. — Construction is set to begin next week on the final building to Bridgewater Falls and part of the plans include a plug-in for electric vehicles, said the owner’s vice president of construction.
The four-unit, approximately 10,000-square-foot building will be constructed on the property’s final outlot across from the building that now houses Chipotle Mexican Grill and Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches, facing Princeton Road, said Thomas Meyers, Phillips Edison & Co. vice president of construction. He said the electric vehicle plug-in may be the first in the area.
The $1 million-plus project will be built by Core Resources with the goal to have it complete in time for Christmas.
“There was a demand for more tenants to be a part of the center,” Meyers said. “This should be a 100 percent pre-leased building.”
Target was the first store to open on the 60-acre site in 2004 and the rest of the center opened in 2005, said Jackie Gerbus, Bridgewater spokeswoman.
“The site’s developed as it’s signed on users or tenants,” said Skylor Miller, Fairfield Twp. assistant administrator.
Miller said the center was probably more than 85 percent full last year. Several tenants joined the development this year, including Chick-fil-A, Sephora inside JCPenney and Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar, which is renovating space now.
“We saw it stay relatively healthy. The only thing we’ve seen moving out is seasonal type businesses,” he said.
This last piece of construction was part of the original building plan, Miller said.
