UPDATE @ 11:15 p.m.:

One person was killed and six were injured in a crash during rush hour Wednesday evening on southbound I-675 that shut down the highway for around six hours.

The crash involved six vehicles, including a semitrailer, and happened in traffic that was slowed and stopped from an earlier crash on I-675, a trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said on scene.

The fatality was pronounced dead at a local hospital, and the remaining injuries were described as serious to minor, according to the patrol’s Dayton Post.

Southbound I-675 was shut down until about 11 p.m. between Ohio 725 (Miamisburg-Centerville Road) and I-75.

While troopers were reconstructing the crash, a second crash happened along south I-675 just north of Ohio 725 in Washington Twp.

Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched around 8:49 p.m. to the five-vehicle crash that sent two drivers to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

EARLIER REPORT

There is at least one serious injury following a multi-vehicle crash involving a semi during this afternoon’s rush hour that shut down southbound Interstate 675 near the I-75 north on-ramp.

Four cars and an Aldi semi truck and possibly other vehicles were involved in the crash, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Troopers said they were trying to determine how many vehicles were in the crash.

An earlier crash ahead on I-675 caused traffic to slow, and the five-vehicle crash resulted from vehicles that had stopped for the first crash, troopers said.
