Retired banker new senator in Warren County

Steve Wilson, retired president and CEO of LCNB Corp., has been picked to replace Shannon Jones as the senator representing the 7th Senate District in Ohio.

Wilson was sworn in Wednesday in the Senate.

He replaces Jones, who was elected to the Warren County Board of Commissioners in November.

Wilson was picked from a field that also included former State Rep. Ron Maag, R-Salem Twp., and Steve Muterspaw, a trustee in Clearcreek Twp., who ran for Maag's seat.

The appointment disproves claims that Maag would be picked after yielding to Jones, rather than also running for the open seat on the county commission.

The Senate Republican Caucus is responsible by law for appointing a temporary replacement to the seat. The appointee will serve for the remainder of the current term, ending in December 2018. The person appointed to the vacancy will stand for election on the 2018 ballot.
