Franklin school board approves re-hiring finance employees

Two long-time employees of the Franklin City Schools who submitted their retirement papers in October were re-hired Monday.

Franklin schools Treasurer Jana Bellamy and Rick Isaacs, the assistant to the treasurer, submitted their retirement letters effective Dec. 31, which were unanimously accepted by the Franklin Board of Education in October.

However, both Bellamy and Isaacs have expressed their desire to be re-hired by the board after that date.

On Monday, the board unanimously approved rehiring both effective on Jan. 1.

In his final comments, outgoing board member Andrew Fleming praised Bellamy for her work, saying her estimates are right on the actual amounts and for providing good financial data to the board that is easily understood.

Bellamy has been working in school finance for the past 30 years, including the past 23 years with the Franklin City Schools.

Isaacs, started out as a bus driver with the district 30 years ago after his mother told him to start paying his own car insurance.

Bellamy’s current gross annual salary is $105,577, while Isaacs’ current gross annual salary is $59,589, according to district records.

After Jan. 1, Bellamy’s new annual salary will be $101,557, while Isaac’s annual salary will be $59,003.
