“The current push to increase our employment is both to prepare for our future development of local restaurants as well as to keep a full roster to best serve our guests,” said Carol Kalwa, marketing coordinator for Freddy’s.
Total number of hires for the entire market would be approximately 40 and salary varies based on position, experience and location. Starting entry level positions would vary from $8.75 to $10 an hour, Kalwa said. We asked Kalwa about the hiring process for Freddy’s. Here’s what she had to say:
Q: What’s the biggest challenge facing you and others in the industry and how is the company uniquely positioned to address that challenge?
"The ability to hire and retain staff is always a challenge in the restaurant industry. We combat this challenge by providing our franchisees with a robust training program and dedicated support staff. Opportunities for advancement, our Bill Simon Memorial Scholarship Foundation and a fun, friendly culture are a few of the tools we use to retain great staff."
Q: Some job seekers are concerned about the limits of advancement within a company or an industry. To what degree can your employees advance from entry-level roles to be promoted to greater positions within the company?
A: “Opportunities for advancement include trainer, assistant manager, general manager, etcetera. We are very proud that four of our seven current General Managers have been promoted internally and all started with us as hourly crew members. With Freddy’s in Cincinnati, we are always working on professional development to help advance our staff which benefits both our business and our communities.”
