Gun reported stolen found in Middletown park

Middletown police found a gun that was reported stolen by the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, according to a police report.

They found the Makarov Germany handgun Saturday afternoon at Old South Park, 401 S. Main St. There was a magazine inserted in the bottom of the gun; however, no rounds were in the chamber or magazine, according to a police report.

Police were called to the park on a report that a juvenile had a gun in his waistband before he gave it to another juvenile. Police found several juveniles in the park and patted them down looking for the gun.

The gun was found in an area near the slide, police said. None of the juveniles admitted to police they owned the gun.

The sheriff’s office was scheduled to pick up the gun from the Middletown police department.
