Sub sandwich franchise Jersey Mike’s Subs on Wednesday will debut a new Monroe location with a five-day grand opening deal to support a cause that funds pediatric cancer research.

Located at 1307 Ohio 63, the new restaurant is circulating 7,500 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $2 contribution to CancerFree KIDS.

The free sub fundraiser, which runs through Dec. 15, is the work of franchise owners Gregory and Tanya Slaughter.

“CancerFree Kids is a great organization,” said Tanya Slaughter. “They do a lot of research.”

The Slaughters previously opened locations in Springdale and Union Twp.’s Eastgate area.

“Four years ago, when we opened Eastgate, we partnered with them as well and we were able to donate $3,000 to them,” she said. “We just love them, so that’s who we chose.”

Customers must have a coupon to be eligible and Slaughter said the new location will be distributing them on site.

The Jersey Mike's opening in Monroe sits in a hotbed of Warren County development, including a new 94-room Tru by Hilton under construction across Ohio 63. The restaurant will employ 21 workers, about six of them on a full-time basis and the remainder on a part-time basis, Slaughter said.
