Hiring is ramping up at many of the region’s large employers, so the Journal-News has rounded up the following list of who’s hiring and how to apply:
ThyssenKrupp Bilstein of America Inc.
Hamilton's largest manufacturer and auto supplier, ThyssenKrupp Bilstein, is about halfway through its latest expansion first announced in 2014. Plans called for Bilstein to make an approximately $26 million investment, including a total 60,000-square-foot building addition to add more space on the cramped factory floor. Most of the investment was to be spent on new equipment, including more advanced and almost all customized machinery, President and Chief Executive Officer Fabian Schmahl previously told this newspaper.
Also as part of the expansion and in exchange for tax breaks, the company, which makes shock absorbers, committed to creating at least 200 new jobs by the end of 2017.
Current employment has grown to about 680 people in Hamilton on Bilstein Boulevard, Lindsey Stanfill, associate human resources manager, recently told the Journal-News. Hiring continues, she said.
To apply, visit the plant in-person at 8685 Bilstein Blvd., or go online to thyssenkruppusjobs.com/search and once there, type in "Hamilton, Ohio" in the location box to find local listings.
ThyssenKrupp Bilstein will celebrate its latest expansion Monday. Visit www.journal-news.com Monday for more company updates.
Liberty Center tenants
Northstar Café is conducting open interviews ahead of its Cincinnati market debut at Liberty Center in Liberty Twp. and has about 90 job openings, including positions in service, culinary and management, said Matt LaGrow, senior managing partner for the restaurant.
Job seekers can get more information and apply online at www.TheCafeisComing.com. They can also meet the restaurant's management team and apply in person between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays on the second level of the Foundry building, the enclosed mall at Liberty Center. Northstar Café is interviewing candidates in Suite 290, which is located next to the Old Navy store.
The restaurant’s three Columbus-area locations are known for weekend brunch and a homemade menu with bakery items, egg dishes and other breakfast fare. It’s most popular times are breakfast and lunch, but Northstar also has a dinner menu featuring thin crust pizzas and sandwiches, LaGrow said.
Additionally, Swedish fashion retailer H&M is also hiring for its Liberty Center store set to open this spring, according to signage posted at the store. The company is seeking managers, merchandisers and sales advisors according to the sign. Apply online at career.hm.com.
Kings Island
The Mason amusement park continues to hire for more than 4,000 positions with job opportunities available in all areas of park operation for the 2016 season, which starts April 16. Those areas include admissions, entertainment, food and beverage, games, lifeguards, merchandise, park services, rides and security, according to park operators.
Job-seekers must be at least 15 years old to apply for a position at Kings Island. For more information about employment, call 513-754-5748 or visit kifun.jobs.
Also, plans are to hold a job fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 27 at the park, according to a Kings Island newsletter.
Construction industry
Residential and commercial contractors, subcontractors and suppliers from the Cincinnati area's construction industry will be hiring at an upcoming job fair March 2 at Xavier University's Cintas Center, 1624 Herald Ave., in Cincinnati.
Trade group Ohio Valley Associated Builders and Contractors helped organize the event.
“Employers will pay for your training and you have a direct pathway to high sustainable wages for your career without accumulating debt,” John Morris, president of Ohio Valley Builders, previously said about why construction is a good job opportunity.
Logistics industry
Logistics — including jobs in truck driving, supply chain management and materials handling at distribution and fulfillment centers — is a growth industry in Southwest Ohio, according to Cincinnati State Technical and Community College and Butler Technology and Career Development Schools, which are partnering to offer new education programs for short-term certificates and two- and four-year degrees.
Butler Tech began offering a Commercial Driver’s License program in 2014 for Class A and Class B drivers. Students who complete the school’s five-week driving program and pass the road licensing test boast a 100 job placement rate, said Jeff Travers, director of the career school’s public safety education.
Cincinnati State plans to open this year a new logistics training center in a rented-out warehouse in West Chester Twp. and those supply chain students will also have the opportunity to get CDL training from Butler Tech, which has a truck driving range at its Liberty Twp. public safety education complex.
“We’re dying for drivers,” said Matthew Dutkevicz, executive director of Butler County Regional Transit Authority.
