MORE: Toddler shot in Hamilton: Neighbors detail drive-by shooting
A county grand jury indicted Jones in December on three counts of felonious assault and discharge of a firearm into a habitation. In exchange for the plea, the other charges were amended or dismissed.
Hamilton police were called shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 21 to a report of a child shot inside the home.
When they arrived, Mitchell was being driven by her mother to Cincinnati Children’s Liberty Campus in Liberty Twp. From there, the child was transferred to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati.
According to neighbors, a man drove by the house twice and shot multiple times.
Jones was arrested on the afternoon of Nov. 27, when Hamilton police and SWAT units served a search warrant on his Eaton Avenue residence and he was taken in into custody. He has been held in the Butler County Jail on $500,000 bond since his arrest.
