Middletown Police: Casper Avenue shooting result of “ongoing conflict”

Middletown Police Major Scott Reeve has released more information concerning the deadly shooting on Casper Avenue.

He reported that the shooting was the result of an “ongoing conflict” between Zachary Wallace, 16, and Mezahn Demarco Amison, 21.

UPDATE @ 8 a.m. (Dec. 7):

The Middletown Police Department has announced the identity of the teenager who was shot and killed in the area of Casper Avenue and Manchester Avenue, and that police have arrested a Middletown man in the shooting.

Zachary Wallace, 16, was found with multiple gunshot wounds, and was pronounced dead after he was taken to Atrium Medical Center.

Investigation of the shooting led officers to Mars Drive in Trenton, where investigators arrested Mezahn Demarco Amison, 21 on charges of murder.

A 16-year-old with Amison was charged with obstructing official business.

INITIAL REPORT (Dec. 6):

A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed Friday night in Middletown, Maj. Scott Reeve said.

Police cordoned off the area of Casper Avenue and Inglehart Street following the shooting reported around 6:30 p.m.

The victim, who was not identified, was taken to Atrium Medical Center but did not survive his injuries.

Middletown police did not provide any information on the suspect or suspects.
