Police: Drunken man pushing baby in a baby carriage

A man was arrested over the weekend on alcohol and child endangering charges after police said he was drunk and pushing a baby carriage with a 1-year-old inside. Police arrested Joseph Dazaunt McDaniel Jr., 20, of the 1000 block of Northwest Washington Boulevard, at approximately 1 a.m. near the 900 block of Eaton Avenue. Police said McDaniel was unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech and had been walking from a home 15 blocks away. McDaniel told police he had consumed “two large bottles of screwdriver,” prior to walking, according to reports. McDaniel was charged with underage consumption and endangering children, both first-degree misdemeanors. He is due in Hamilton Municipal Court July 20.

A man was arrested over the weekend on felony charges after police said he beat a woman and then fought with officers. Police arrested Gerald Dale Marcum, 45, of the 500 block of Highland Avenue, at approximately 9:50 a.m. near the 200 block of Main Street after responding to a disturbance call at Tom’s Cigar Store. Upon arrival, police were told by witnesses Marcum was punching the victim and dragging her by her hair down a nearby alley. When Police and EMS personnel caught up to Marcum after a short chase, he began fighting them, according to reports. Marcum was charged with felonious assault and second-degree misdemeanors resisting arrest and obstructing official business. He also had warrants out for his arrest from Hamilton Municipal Court. Marcum is due in court July 14.

Someone broke into an apartment in the 700 block of Cleveland Avenue between 6 and 6:30 p.m. and stole a 42-inch television, two video gaming systems, a computer monitor and 30 DVDs. The total estimated value of the items stolen is $1,350, and there are no suspects at this time.

Someone broke into a home in the 1100 block of Goodman Avenue sometime overnight and stole $700 worth of various jewelry and damaged the home’s front door. The total estimated value of the items stolen and damaged is $900, and there are no suspects at this time.
