HAMILTON — An admitted killer, Raymond Tanner, who committed one of Butler County’s most notorious crimes — but was found not guilty by reason of insanity — will remain under court control, Butler County Common Pleas Judge Andrew Nastoff ordered today, Sept. 25.
Tanner, 52, appeared in Nastoff’s courtroom for a review of his conditional release, which must be held every two years. Tanner was released from a mental-health facility in 1996, just six years after he killed 21-year-old Maria Tanner.
