Ex-NBA player to appear in Butler County court on charges of failure to pay child support

Former NBA star Ruben Patterson, who reportedly earned more than $36 million during his 10-year professional basketball career, turned himself in on a felony non-support of dependents warrant last week in Butler County Common Pleas Court, according to Butler County Prosecutor Michael Gmoser.

Patterson, 43, allegedly owes $106,834 in child support, Gmoser said in a press release. Patterson was released on his own recognizance.

After playing college basketball at the University of Cincinnati, Patterson played professionally for several NBA teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets.

Since retiring from the NBA, Patterson has maintained a presence at NBA games and events, and resides in Las Vegas and Jacksonville, Fla., according to the release.

Patterson is scheduled to enter a plea at his next court hearing in early September in front of Judge Jennifer Muench-McElfresh.
