Here’s everything we know about the closing of Costco’s photo departments inside its stores.
Is Costco Getting Out of the Photo Business?
Costco's announcement that it is shuttering its photo department applies only to its in-store operations. Members will still be able to order some photo-related products online at costcophotocenter.com.
As Clark.com previously reported, Costco began shutting down its in-store photo departments in the Northeast in 2018.
If you’ve purchased anything that you’d planned to pick up at a Costco Photo Center, you have until March 28 to get your order.
What Photo Services Will Costco Still Offer?
Costco says it will continue to offer photo printing through its website and app.
Here’s the full list of photo-related products Costco will continue to offer online:
- Prints, Enlargements & Posters
- Stationery & Photo Greeting Cards
- Canvas, Metal & Acrylic Prints
- Photo Books & Calendars
- Photo Blankets & Other Photo Gifts
- Business Printing Products
What Photo Services at Costco Are Going Away?
Costco says it will discontinue a number of photo-related services after Sunday, February 14, 2021, including:
- Ink Refills
- Passport Photos
- Photo Restoration
- Home Movie Transfer
It’s no surprise that Costco is closing its photo centers. Even though people are taking more photos than ever before, they’re just not printing them as often.
But new photo technology lets you do more with the pictures you take, and Costco will continue to offer many of those specialty photo products.
