DETAILED FORECAST

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that goes into effect Tuesday morning for counties along and north of I-70.

At 2 a.m. the National Weather Service updated the length of time the Winter Weather Advisories, already issued for parts of the area, are in effect.

The advisory for Auglaize, Champaign, Clark, Greene, Logan, Miami, Montgomery, and Shelby counties was extended until 10 a.m.

The advisory for Darke, Mercer, and Preble counties in Ohio and Union and Wayne in Indiana will expire at 8 a.m.

A Wind Advisory will also go into effect at noon on Tuesday for Auglaize, Champaign, Darke, Logan, Mercer, Miami, and Shelby counties until 10 p.m.

Gusts in the northern Miami Valley could reach between 40 and 50 mph through the afternoon, possibly creating some scattered power outages, Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini said.

Wind gusts across the rest of the Miami Valley will reach around 40 mph through Tuesday evening.

Tuesday: A wintry mix will be possible mainly just before sunrise for the Dayton metro area and areas west. The mix may linger a little longer until late morning for areas east. After a break in the early afternoon, rain will be likely through the evening. Temperatures will climb into the upper 40s with gusty winds.

Wednesday: Dry time for the morning and afternoon with highs well above normal in the lower 50s. Breezy conditions through the day with some scattered clouds. Showers will arrive into the evening, with rain heavy at times overnight.

Thursday: Scattered showers and gusty winds through the day with highs in the upper 50s. Rain will be heavy at times, and could create some minor flooding concerns.

Friday: Showers shift to the south in the very early morning, and may change briefly to a wintry mix or snow, mainly south of I-70. Some dry time during the day with showers arriving as a mix again at night. Highs during the day will reach around 40 degrees.
