2 charged after meth lab bust in Hamilton

A Hamilton couple has been charged in connection with a meth lab found at their Williams Avenue residence Wednesday afternoon.

The Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics unit searched the Raybourne residence, 443 Williams Ave., at about 3:40 p.m. following an investigation into possible drug activity. Agents found methamphetamine and chemicals throughout the house, said Sgt. Mike Hackney. Other items suspected to be heroin were also seized for testing.

Four children, including one who is disabled, were living in the house, according to police. The children ages 6-10, were placed with county Children Services.

“We really wanted to get them checked out to make sure there wasn’t any long-term exposure to chemicals,” Hackney said.

Kenneth Raybourne Jr., 28, is charged with felony child endangering, possession of drugs, illegal manufacture of drugs, and illegal assembly or possession of drugs for the manufacture of drugs.

Destiny Raybourne, 23, is charged with felony child endangering.

The Raybournes were arraigned Thursday in Middletown Municipal Court were a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Tuesday.

Bond was set for Kenneth was set at $200,000. He has a previous drug abuse charge from March that is still pending. Destiny’s bond was set at $75,000

Additional charges are possible when the case is presented to grand jury, according to Hackney.
