A three-vehicle crash that occurred at Verity Parkway and Germantown Road in Middletown this morning closed the intersection, which has since reopened.

The driver of a semi truck allegedly ran a red light at the intersection, sending three people to the hospital and closing the intersection as city employees spread dirt to clean up the diesel fuel spill.

Maj. David Birk from the Middletown Division of Police said the driver of the semi allegedly ran the light as he was traveling south on Germantown Road. His semi hit another vehicle, and that vehicle collided with another car. The driver of the semi was cited for a red-light violation, Birk said.

Three people were transported with non life-threatening injuries, Birk said.
