If the first weekend in any indication, Middletown’s holiday drive-through lights display will have a successful season.
More people attended Light Up Middletown and increased their donations compared to last year, said Cheryl Landen, secretary for the organization
Landen said 10,813 attended Light Up Middletown its first weekend, Nov. 24-26. Last year, during the same three days, attendance was 9,303, she said.
Those who drove through donated $2,000 more than the previous year, according to Landen.
The lights display is open through New Year’s Eve. Admission is by donation and proceeds are used to make park improvements, purchase light displays and maintain the event, Landen said.
Last year, 78,500 people drove through the lights display in more than 23,000 vehicles, pushing its 18-year overall attendance to more than 1 million visitors.
